If an American animation studio made Tonari No Totoro:
• The King Totoro would speak with the wisecracking voice of Ray Romano or Eddie Murphy. John Goodman would play the cat-bus. Celine Dion would contribute a pop song about the wonders of trees.
• Mom and Dad would not believe in Totoro or the power of magic, opening the door for a series of gags where Totoro and his wacky sidekicks would get Satsuki in trouble and then turn invisible.
• Kanta, the boy next door, would have a bigger part, and probably have to rescue the girls from an Evil Forest Monster (played by James Woods).
• Mother's illness would be cured by magic—or she would be dead before the story begins. Dad would be a mechanic and build crazy inventions.
• This movie would be the first volley in a direct-to-video series. In the first sequel, Totoro would move to the big city and be recruited by an NBA team. But at the end of every video installment, everyone would learn a valuable lesson about the meaning of family.

Mõnus lugu alguses. Satsuke ja Mei mõlemad meeldisid, väga energilised ja rõõmsameelsed. Mitu korda sai vaadatud stseeni kus Totoro hoiab vihmavarju ja sellele vihmapiisad langevad. Totoro ajas mind mitmel korral naerma. Cute cute cute!

See on esimene Miyazaki film, mida näinud olen. Igati tore lastefilm. Ise küll ei fänna selliseid armsaid animatsioone, kuid igav ka ei hakanud.
Lastefilmina puhtalt 10/10. Kuna hindan filme selle järgi, kuidas film mulle meeldis, siis 6/10.
