Elas kord noor prints, kelle isa, Ida kuningas, saatis Egiptusesse pärlit otsima. Kohale jõudes ulatasid inimesed talle joogikarika. Sellest juues unustas ta, et on kuninga poeg, unustas pärli ja vajus sügavasse unne.
